What does the Black Student Fund do?The BSF provides tuition grants, and
essential services to black children
attending Member Schools, grades
kindergarten through 12, in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. The Fund
works toward creating an equitable learning experience for all students through its
Teacher Recruitment Consultation and Institute for Equity, Race & Education.
In performing our mission, the Black Student Fund provides direct services to to more than

Use the following links to access this information: Back to TopWhat is an Independent School?An independent school is governed by a board of trustees; is independent in its governance and finance, regardless of its religious or other affiliation; is a non-profit corporation; and is accredited by a recognized regional or state association and/or approved by the state in which it operates. Back to TopDoes the BSF help with College Tuition?No. The Black Student Fund provides grants only to children in grades kindergarten through 12. However, the Fund does hold an annual public College Financial Aid Workshop that provides free information on application procedures and financial aid options. Back to TopWho funds the Black Student Fund?The Fund receives financial support from corporations, charitable foundations and individuals. We are also supported by contributions to the Combined Federal Campaign, and those of Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. The BSF receives no funds from the federal government and depends on the community for support of its programs. Please help us to grow and continue the work we do.
