"This class was especially meaningful because I took it with
a group of fellow early childhood educators and it has affected us all, moving us to seek
to do a more informed and professional job of teaching each and every child."
ERE graduate
In fulfilling our mission as an advocate for black children while enhancing the
learning experience for all students, the Black Student Fund has developed an Institute
for Equity, Race and Education (ERE). The Institute is a teaching facility that conducts a
series of comprehensive programs in cross-racial communications for educational
professionals and administrators. Since its establishment in 1993, over 400 faculty
members from the Washington metropolitan area have participated in one or more of the
Institutes course offerings. We believe this has had a measurably positive effect
within the schools, and ultimately, in the community at large.
Taught by instructors with college degrees and strong, post-graduate level backgrounds
in cross-racial communication issues, courses focus on providing pragmatic approaches for
educators seeking to expand their knowledge and techniques in teaching, administration,
admissions, and curriculum design from a culturally and racially broadened perspective.
Graduates of Institute courses receive Continuing Education Units which are registered
with the American Council on Education in Washington, DC. All courses are endorsed by
Trinity College of Washington, DC.
Schedule of Courses
Institute courses are available to school professionals and administrators.
